2024 SOCAL BASKETBALL HOF HONOREES HAVE GREAT HISTORY

The 2024 selections for the Southern California Basketball Hall of Fame have a great history from high school, college, and the NBA. The group will be honored with the upcoming 2025 HOF class on Sunday, May 4, 2025 at the Anaheim Highway 39 Event Center with a Charity Dinner. Headlining the selections are 2012 Olympic Gold Medalist and NBA champion Tyson Chandler from Dominguez High School and 1998 Naismith Hall of Fame pick Alex Hannum, who won as head coach two NBA and one ABA championships after being a standout player at USC and starting at Hamilton High School.

Brandon Jennings, who played at Dominguez HS, was the first player to ever jump from high school to being a European professional before the NBA. He was selected along with UCLA 1995 NCAA champions Tyus Edney from Long Beach Poly HS and Toby Bailey from Loyola. Also, part of the 2024 class from UCLA are Verbum Dei CIF champion and Bruin standout point guard Roy Hamilton and Perris HS and Bruin All-American Maylana Martin Douglas, who was a lottery WNBA selection.

Two other women were also selected for the Hall of Fame. Brea-Olinda HS All-American, CIF and California State Champion Jody Anton Wynn, who was a college standout at USC and the new coach at Mater Dei, and Toya DeCree Holiday, who was an All-City player at Kennedy HS in Granada Hills, and a standout for both Arizona State and USIU in San Diego. She is the mother of the three NBA Holidays (Jrue, Justin, and Aaron), and works at Campbell Hall HS.

Two tremendous high school coaching greats were also selected. Mater Dei’s Kevin Kiernan, who is the winningest girls’ coach in California History, including three State Titles and Westchester’s Ed Azzam, who became the State’s all-time winningest boys’ coach, including six California State titles.

Some of the best players in history also selected for the SoCal HOF include Cedric Ceballos from Dominguez HS, Ventura College and Cal State Fullerton, who was a second round NBA pick. He played professionally for over 20 years, including with the Harlem Globetrotters. Jelani Gardner was a HS All-American at St. John Bosco, an all-around college standout at California and Pepperdine, and a professional player for over 10 years. Adam Keefe was a dominating CIF player at Woodbridge in Orange County, then a first round NBA selection after a wonderful Pac-10 career at Stanford. He had over a 10-year professional career.

Dana and David Pump have been fixtures in grass roots basketball for almost 40 years while growing up in Northridge. Double Pump basketball has been stable at every level of basketball success. The twins also have run the charity Harold Pump Foundation for over 25 years, raising millions of dollars to combat cancer. They both graduated from Cal State Northridge.
